Mono 1.0 available

by LCH on July 5, 2004

Mono, an open-source, multi-platform implementation of C# and the CLR very well could change the landscape of corporate development.

In this eweek article Miguel de Icaza argues the case:

“Even as Linux grows on enterprise desktops, developing applications for the Linux desktop has been challenging because existing tools were extremely technical and complex,” said de Icaza in a statement. “Mono is an extremely usable, commercial-grade development platform for Linux desktops and servers with a complete set of tools and APIs. It’s based on published standards and proven programming languages and libraries, and Mono’s cross-platform capabilities also extend to applications for Microsoft Windows, Apple MacOS X and other flavors of UNIX.”

I know a lot of people are thinking Linux when it comes to Mono, but I’m curious to try the OS X version.
