Toshiba has finally released a fix for the screen blanking problem after closing the display lid of the M400 to put it into sleep or hibernation.
Toshiba describes the bug as:
“If the computer is placed into the Standby or Hibernation state by closing the display lid, and then the computer’s display panel automatically turns off, the display panel may not turn back on again when the mouse is moved, or the touchpad is touched, or a key is pressed.”
Microsoft had previously released a hotfix here (KB917332) which I’ve been using, but I’d rather use the corrected driver from Toshiba.
According to Toshiba the problem is “not specific to Toshiba portable computers, but occurs on various computers using dual-core processors and processors that support hyper-threading technology.”
