Microsoft Surface may find a home–in your home

by LCH on February 4, 2008

According to CNet’s Ina Fried, Steve Ballmer indicated today that Microsoft is working on creating a version of its attention-getting Surface computer for comsumers.

Up to this point, Microsoft has said it is focusing on just a handful of partners. Indeed, even the SDK is being tightly controlled. So with a “home” version of Surface might we see Microsoft change its tune here?

There’s no indication as to when a Home Surface might be available, but my guess is you have plenty of time to save your money up to purchase one.

I hope Microsoft also realizes here how interested people are in touch capabilities throughout a range of devices–not just table-like Surface computers. I’d like to see multi-touch in Tablets, in whiteboards, and so on. Microsoft should be pushing forward this technology too–not waiting for, well, Windows 2020.
