Plastic Logic eReader for business at D7

by LCH on May 27, 2009

Plastic Logic CEO Richard Archuleta and Product Manager Anusha Nirmalananthan demo the touch interface and UI behind the companies business eReader at D7.

Here’s the video:

By tapping in the bottom left, it brings up a toolbar across the bottom, which then supports popup menus and tabs on the left for the most recent documents. Tapping on the top right of the page bookmarks the contents somewhat like performing a favorite.

There is quite a noticeable lag between pages, but overall it’s not out of line with other eReaders.

Price? Archuleta wouldn’t go there. Walt Mossberg suggested it would be around the $500 price point. Who knows if he’s correct.

Laptopmag.com has some hands on time with the device too. Besides some unique views of the Reader Laptop Magazine, the article describes “the annotate key that lets you mark up different parts of the on screen text. You can select the circle button and then tap on the text and it will circle the designated area. You can also use the pen tool to sketch a note or underline some text. Lightly scribbling on the screen was responsive.”

They promise a forthcoming video.
